what's in a name?
My dear you will probably wonder why this blog is called "BellyPepper"...
Since we knew about your arrival, we've checked in on your progress weekly on a baby website. You started out as a little bean, and every week we'd check to see what size of a fruit/veggie you are currently.
Once you were the size of a red pepper, your daddy just pointed to my tummy and said "Belly pepper!" so the nickname stuck (as well as a bunch of others, such as Bean, RickNick, etc). Hopefully we'll settle on a more respectable name in time for your arrival.
We are in the middle of your week 22, and starting last week you've been kicking! I still can't figure out when you would kick more actively and when you don't. Last night you were quite the little kicker... sometimes it would feel like you were kicking 'downward' towards your future exit route...
We are sooo looking forward to meeting you when you come into the world! You will know from the stories that your daddy and I really really wanted you, and are so glad you are on your way. We know that in our future very soon we'll have a bundle of love, and along with that, sleepless nights, worrying, all sorts of bodily fluids, gone are the personal space and privacy, and that in your teenage years we will probably have a lot of head-butting and heartaches. Hopefully you will feel that your upbringing wasn't too terribly scarred and that one day, you will think of us as having been good parents who did our best to give you all that we can. Every parent leaves imprint in their kids right? We hope we leave way more good than bad habits on you, and that you will add good to this world.
Is it sappy to say we love you already? There were so many ultrasound photos of you taken, and both sets of grandparents are so excited to meet you. Toys and clothes are gifted to you from our friends... I'll end this post for now, love you my little belly pepper.
